Fantom 0 issues: MIDI instruments won't match
When describing problems, always mention your OS and game version (shown at the bottom of the title screen).
If your keyboard has USB or MIDI ports, there is a tremendously high chance (>99%) it will work with Synthesia. See what you'll need on the keyboards page.

This was discussed here in the forum long time ago (2011). So that was long before Fantom 0 series. And it looks like the issues are similar. Every time I load a MIDI file on Synthesia, the instruments loaded on the Roland are completely different and mostly non-GM. So the result is a complete unplayable mess (the notes are correct but the sounds are not). If anyone has experienced this situation with a Roland 0 or any Roland in the recent past, please let me know. I really like Synthesia Piano and it would a shame not being able to use with the Fantom. (I had a 1996 Yamaha CS1x and it worked just fine).
If your MIDI device doesn't follow the usual GM instrument map, the best you can usually do in Synthesia is disable Settings --> Advanced --> Instrument Change Messages and just handle instrument selection manually.
Although, sometimes you can sort of force your device into GM mode by sending it one of the GM (or GM2 or GS or XG) Reset SysEx messages. That will make some keyboards reorganize their instrument map to match as closely as it can. In the upcoming Synthesia 10.10 update there is an easier way to have Synthesia emit this kind of message, but at least in the current desktop (Win/Mac) version you can try this via the configuration window by doing the following:
1. Hold your Shift key while launching Synthesia to open the configuration window.
2. Find and pick the "Midi.Reset.GmReset" entry in the list.
3. Add a check to the "Value" box.
That should be it. Once you close the configuration window and restart Synthesia normally, does that make your Fantom's instrument map line up and more closely to the GM instrument set?

Unfortunately it doesn't. But the first option to disable the instrument change message worked. Now when I load a MIDI file on Synthesia, all the instruments on the Roland are set to default piano. One thing I noticed is that now I can't follow along when the MIDI file is playing. It doesn't even show the keys when pressed on the keyboard although on the MIDI input setup screen it recognize the keys. Puzzling
