Hello.
I have been using Synthesia for many years. I have always missed a feature that would be very useful for those who use it to practice piano pieces.
It consists of recording the user's performance and comparing it with the information in the original MIDI file, so that it shows information about your note errors, tempo, legato, speed, etc. This information can be represented in the piano roll itself, showing the notes of the original midi, the ones played and the errors made.
The current scoring system is very poor information for correcting errors.

This is a neat idea.
Having the option to record input during practice or recital mode could be a useful way to really analyze the discrepancies in your playing.
You can do this already with external applications, but somehow using the data within Synthesia might be interesting.
However, I wouldn't write off the current scoring system as poor in any regard.
There's enough granularity within the metrics to provide a precise and objective evaluation of your performance.
The archive of past plays includes enough information to clearly see when you progress based on the criteria being measured:

- Hit every note and avoid mistakes
- Hold notes their full duration
- Play as close to 100% speed as you can
