I posted this in the Feature Requests forum but I thought I'd post here as well.
I went through last night, added a duplicate track and knocked out a ton of the notes on the Zelda midi that came with the installer.
Now it should be much easier to play along with for beginners but the cool thing is that you still get to hear the full track as you play it (ala Guitar Hero). Just set the first two tracks to "played but hidden" and the third track to "you play-muted"
I'd like to make a lot more of these "game" style midi files and post them. What I need though is some suggestions for songs.
Right now I'm looking for popular or recognizable songs. I thought I'd start with "Tiny Dancer", Journey's "Hold on" and... "Still Alive" from the end of Portal
Can anybody suggest some other good songs they'd like to see made "play-able"?

I cranked out another Midi file that has an "ez-mode" track this morning.
Again, set the 1st track to "Played but Hidden" and the 2nd track to "You play Muted"

Yeah, these are really great. You're sort of solving the chicken-and-the-egg problem. I had gotten a few requests to make the game support a sort of configuration file format before so people might be able to do something like this.
But, without any content (and a huge to-do list with lots of other user requests) it was hard to make time for it. And, without that type of support in the game, it was/is hard for people like you to make the content. But... now that you're doing it... well, I don't really have any excuses, do I?
