If i remember correctly Tone have maid some scale exercises with fingering.
There's also a method with proper midi file with fingering but it's not free.
You can also make you're own fingering it's easy.
For the improv i Stronglhly advise you to memorize chords and different voicing before to improvise completely free
You can take for example one cadenza on a key you study and to memorize 2 vocing per chords at least then only you can improvise and have more pleasure.
And sometime you can be also completely free for you're own pleasure
I think Hannon is not so great it's best to make you're own exercices you' ll learn more theoric basics, you 'll know what you're playing and you'll make exercices finely tuned to you're capacity.
Anyway i think Hannon it's not the best but it's not bad you 'll achive more dexterity but only this.
working you're scale on 3rd or any pattern is more easy to memorize and is better for dexterity cause you focus more on how you play than what you play.
Exercices based on arpegio build from chords you have learned/build is the same and you 'll be better for to use them in an improv contest.
I have maid Hannon exercices when i was child and they bored me :p
